a beautiful week heading our way with a small chance of a shower. we're starting off dry. 66 is where we are in raleigh over the beltline, no changes to the skyline just yet. sunrise is not until 6:57. in the meantime, we have something to talk about, foggier conditions, south of the triangle so let's check the visibility. right now 5-mile in fayetteville and clinton but check out lee county, half a miles towards pinehurst. here in raleigh, lewisburg, smithfield reporting full visibility along the 95 corridor, things are touch and go and not really causing that many slowdowns so if you're getting ready to head out the door, take it easy if you encounter foggier conditions. mid-60s in durham and raleigh, 69 wilmington, low 70s around the sandhill, fayetteville, 72.

is mourning the loss of a police officer. officer tim pracking died after being shot over the weekend in shelby. the suspect, 23-year-old irving benner, jr., took off. hundreds died in shelby for a vigil in his honor. >> they took a daddy from a little girl. they took a husband wife. you took a brother from a police family. this causes deep hurt. >> this is something our community and our town is not used to have happen and it's going to affect us tremendously. >> state and federal authorities are still looking for center. the state is offering $10,000 for information that leads to his arrest. a north carolina man is facing charges this morning for an odd crime. police said he not only impersonated a firefighter but

arrested cody herring after he tried to help with a medical call sunday. he is a former volunteer firefighter and that officers on the scene told him to leave. deputies in eastern north carolina are investigating a weekend shooting that sent five people to the hospital. it happened at a nightclub in raven county. it started with bottles thrown before escalating to gunfire. deputies found at least 50 shell casings outside of the club. one of the victi arrests have been made. it was a brazen gold heist that made headlines last year and a florida man will spend 11 years in prison for his role. last march, almost $5 million worth of gold and silver parts were stolen from a truck along i-95 in wilson county. the thieves used gps to trace the tractor trailer before using pepper spray to make the truck driver sick before the robbery.

police said he ran several red lights, almost ran into several other drivers. at one point, he started driving on the sidewalk, nearly hitting pedestrians. eventually he stopped the car and tried to run away, but police were right there and made the arrest. also new overnight, authorities in detroit, michigan, are investigating why someone shot a police officer. police said the officer was on patrol when he pulled to a gas station. they heard gunshots. one of the bullets hit him in the shoulder. the officer was taken to one person is in custody in connection with the shooting. a very disturbing story out of kansas. authorities said a hospital employee set his boss on fire in an attempt to kill her. he's accused of throwing gas len on his female supervisor, lighting her on fire, and assaulting her with a raysor. one person who went to help was hurt. the suspect could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

it happened when the two men tried to test a protective vest. now, the suspect is charged with manslaughter in the death of his cousin. a witness told police the victim was wearing a flack jacket and wondered if it worked. that witness said the cousin pulled out a gun, said, "let's see," and shot him in the chest. the flack jackets are designed to stop fragments from explosives, not bullets. a massive fire at a chicago strip mall kept officials busy it started at one store before quickly spreading to the others. it back hours to put out the fire. two firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion but otherwise no injuries or deaths reported. the fire's cause is under investigation this morning. the search is on this morning in milwaukee, wisconsin. authorities are looking for a 17-year-old suspect who was seen jumping out of a police van over the weekend. someone driving behind the van recorded the escape. police arrested the suspect

out. officials are still looking for him this morning. police in maine say two teen who will likely face several charges after stealing construction equipment and taking it on a joyride. officials said the two 14-year- olds drove the front-end loader and ran into several cars. police chased them and tried to stop them, but they refused, ramming into a police cruiser. officers say that is when they decided to shoot the tires. deliberately striking police car and other vehicles, it's a deadly situation and had to be stopped right away. >> police expect to charge the teens over the next few days. not good when you're just 14 years old. you don't have your license yet. come on, guys -- or girls. >> you never know. we'll turn things over to alyssa and ali, our "a" team. >> "a" team is here. great forecast. >> i don't see any problem with

forecast. heading out the door this morning, it's 69, right around the morning hours, patchy fog. that's the only negative with the forecast. as we head into the afternoon, 87, a little warmer than where we should be this time of year. keep in mind it's going to be on the dry side so kids, i don't think you need the umbrella on the bus so let's look at the tower camera where we're starting to see the color across the horizon an we're in the mid-60s so cooler than where we were yesterday, refreshing as you step outside. 64 henderson, 65. roxboro, 68. low 70s around the sandhill. here's your hour by hour forecast, 76 at 10:00 a.m., 82 at lunchtime. we will climb to 87 for our afternoon high. it's very similar to yesterday and then we head into the evening, more comfortable conditions for you.

most of us will stay dry. if you're going to see wet weather, the best chance will be mainly around the sandhills because look at this, the stationary front still hanging off to our south, really going to bring the best rain chances towards south carolina and north carolina border, mainly dry with this front nearby. that finally moves off to our east. next front is in the wing through the ohio river valley tomorrow and won't bring us rain until thursday or friday. ahead of it, a temperatures so far this week will arrive on wednesday. the forecast is looking pretty good. noon, anything going on outside whether it's lunch, exercise, you're taking the kids for a walk, weather will cooperate. as we head towards 6:30 this evening, we're still, for the most part, on the dry side, isolated showers around the sandhills. as we head through our wednesday, look at this, dry in the morning, dry in the afternoon. make plans to be outside.
